The half-shaved hair thing is certainly not a style I would try myself - especially since emulating the effect via slicked hair is a simpler, more temporary option. But to hell with simplicity, this is fashion and the fact that people will go to any lengths for it means that this look is still being spotted on the streets long after rose to prominence in 2008.

Despite the range of colours to this chap’s look, be it the green and blue tartan, the green sweater, or the contrast of the green bow tie, this chap has his boots spot on. While so many gents commit a faux pas by wearing black shoes with a navy suit (or in this case, a suit with navy hues), he’s avoided the temptation of matching his shoes to his black leather bag and Tom Ford glasses and worn brown; precisely as the suit required.

One of the best things about street style is the creativity of fashion lovers who can take an item, twist it, and turn it into that eye catching little something. Take this bow headband - its soft pinks and blues a perfect contrast for fiery red hair. Look more closely, however, and you’ll discover that it’s not a head band but rather a H&M belt.

Wearing self made tights parading themselves as suspenders as outerwear, a mesh dress by American Apparel, a sheer ruffle shirt, and a bold bubble skirt by H&M gives an impressive layering effect and silhouette. Tahti Syrjala adds pizzazz to this outfit with her red hair, which remains the colour for the cooler months.

While I’m sure many people would be quite captivated by the sheer top and girl-on-girl action happening in the left hand photo below, I was not unusually inspecting the shot on the right to work out where I’d seen the awesome sky-blue backed bra before. Unmistakable: it’s The Lake and Stars Spring 2010. And how perfect for a lingerie as outerwear look - it’s hardly a piece you’d want to hide.

If cutesy is your thing (and let’s face it, unless you’re Freja Beha Erichsen and oozing attitude it’s pretty hard to work a bow headband without at least a little bit of cuteness), then here’s one way to do it: a colour palette of neutral, pink and black; a sweet dress; and some peep-toes.
