In this editorial for Vogue Brazil’s March 2010 issue, Alice Dellal is punk with major attitude, her shaved side hair this time cascading into blonde waves. Aaah, France - the people, the parties, the fashion. It’s no surprise to see Glamour France’s April edition capturing frolics along the ocean, with the sportswear trend making a star appearance. The white pleated skirt here may be taking inspiration from the sporty flapper look, as seen on the Hermes Spring 2010 runway with it’s pleated skirts with drop-waists.

Bombshell redhead Tiah Eckhardt slinking down the runway draped in liquid metal. If I had to pick a moment from Manning Cartell’s L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival (LMFF) show, that would be it. Metallics aside, there was a palette of black and fuchsia and some interesting little details that kept the collection unique yet saleable.

The shoot itself is entitled ‘So Dreamy‘ but, in all honestly, with a magnoliophyta looming over model Guinevere van Seenus in such a manner (and completely smothering her head in other instances) I find this more akin to a nightmare replete with Triffids than something I’d enjoy dreaming about.

Gwendolynne manages to reinvent her signature style, time and again, with remarkable precision. Who at last night’s L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival (LMFF) show could overlook the swishing silk gowns with thigh high slits, or the delicately beaded boleros; the draping cowl backs, and rows of tiny buttons; and one particular asymmetrical gown with a Grecian style drape and single shoulder? We certainly couldn’t.

At 9pm last night, Melbourne’s fashion crowd sat down to a performance by Bertie Blackman before velvet-clad models in Levante stockings strode onto the stage. Introductory entertainment over, Thurley was the first label to work the show. Hemlines at L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival (LMFF) Runway 3 were longer, dresses more suitable as night time fare. Thurley brought pitch black and sparkling silver into glittering harmony; some modern cuts, some more flapper inspired.
