In a short space of time, Kate Moss has managed to demote herself from being model-of-the-decade to being almost completely irrelevant. The thing we miss most is Kate’s once-unmatched sense of style, although when it comes to photoshoots she occasionally likes to remind us that she still has it. And by ‘it’ we mostly mean great bed-hair.

With tulle ballerina skirts and slouchy marl grey sweat tops, it’s the perfect mix between tomboyish cool and delicately girly. Wood’s L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival (LMFF) appearance also included daring lace boy shorts, and vintage inspired sequined numbers.

While the warrior fashion trend has sparked many a fierce outfit, the looks proffered by Toni Maticevski at 2010’s L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival (LMFF) were (for want of a better the phrase) glamazonian. Heavily beaded, sequined and jewel-encrusted, a front row seat was needed to truly appreciate the intense detailing that made up Maticevski’s gowns.

Alice McCall’s L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival (LMFF) offering was a mixture of soft florals and fish-scale paillettes, grunged up by the occasional addition of a black beanie or pair of leather shorts. The florals were lingerie inspired; corset shaped but understated and not too girly, making them highly versatile pieces for the cooler months.

In the regal surrounds of Melbourne’s Government House and in the presence of the Queen of Australia’s Victorian representative, Professor David de Kretser, the 2010 L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival (LMFF) was officially launched yesterday afternoon.

Borrowing on both the sumptuous surrounds and Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland, the afternoon’s speeches were quickly forgotten to a mini-parade suitably entitled ‘Wonderland’. Though inclusive of everything from bunny ears to an Elvis impersonator (I’ve never read that chapter of Alice in Wonderland), pieces by Collette Dinnigan and Willow were the true fare.
