We’re not yet a quarter of the way into 2010 but, in the industry that is fashion, our eye is always firmly on the future. And in this case that means looking past even the forthcoming Spring 2010 season and looking to Autumn / Fall 2010 color trends. As they have done in the past, both Pantone and Lenzing have released their takes on the forthcoming color trends for Fall 2010. They see the Autumn / Fall 2010 season as a mix of colours for women that fuse practicality with a sense of travel and adventure.

So accepted has the fusion of nudity and fashion become that it’s continually creeping from inside the pages of fashion-forward magazines and onto their covers. Recently it was Conde Nast’s Love magazine that partook, now it’s a three-edition cover for the forthcoming Spring 2010 issue of 25 magazine.

It’s an unexpected combination. Marc Jacobs‘ delicate silk bra and briefs paired with combat boots and a khaki green cap. In fact this whole shoot is dedicated to the mashing of these two otherwise antithetical trends: lingerie as outerwear and utilitarian military clothing.

And it would seem that when it comes to fashion’s new military, Eniko Mihalik is Major General; taking on top secret missions in the Spanish Isles and fighting global warming among other things. She’s one busy girl.

My first introduction to British designer Paul Smith was by way of his ‘naked ladies’ print. In effect a homage to Vargas, it seemed at once both the perfect titillation and extra detail that Smith is famed for. Not by the same designer and far less subtle, it would seem that British actress Keira Knightley is having a naked lady moment of her own.

It wasn’t so much the nature of his death that rocked people, but rather that we could be robbed of the talent who was Alexander McQueen so long before his time. That talent will be forever captured in his best work and, while pre-Fall collections are infrequently known for it, the Alexander McQueen Pre-Autumn / Pre-Fall 2010 collection stands out for having a level of detail that most designers would be satisfied to call their complete seasonal collection.
